The importance of lighting in interior design

A good lighting job is essential when projecting an interior design, not only to provide adequate visibility in a space, which is especially important in work or reading areas. But also to create different environments depending on the functionality of the space and the intention that you want to convey to the user.

On the other hand, it is possible to carry out a more decorative lighting work, thinking about the details of the home. That is, when our intention is to highlight decoration elements as sculptural pieces to focus the attention on them.

A good lighting study is carried out prior to each of the projects. In the same way, it is just as important to know how to choose the right luminaires for each room and for each use. They will not be the same luminaires or the same lighting intention for a dining room , as for a bathroom decoration.

These are the types of lighting that must be taken into account when working on lighting in a project:

General lighting:

It is one that provides lighting throughout the space. It can be from recessed luminaires in the ceiling, floor lamps or wall sconces.

Spot lighting:

It is the lighting designed for work areas, since it tends to be more focused and intense. For these cases, we recommend table lamps.

Accent lighting:

Used to highlight decorative or design elements, such as a painting, a shelf or a specific piece of furniture. It can be provided by halogen lights, LED lights or projection lights.

Mood lighting:

Used to create a warm and welcoming environment. It can be provided by hanging, table or floor lamps.

The truth is that indoor lighting is essential, both during the day and at night. However, do you know what is equally or more important to us? Knowing how to take advantage of the natural lighting that falls on the interior of the house and working on the distribution, colors, textures… in relation to the situation of the openings to the outside and the amount of light that enters through them. Our duty as professionals is to make the most of it.

One of the main characteristics of our design is to work with open kitchens integrated into the living-dining room. In addition to improving the distribution of space, unification and continuous visibility, it allows there to be no interruptions in the passage of natural light.

In the same way it happens with the tones in the furniture and fabrics. They tend to be of clear color ranges, the same ones that help reflect light, increase its brightness and generate a feeling of greater spaciousness in spaces.  GTYU789

The choice of the type of lighting, by interior designersDSAq , is also important. LED lights are an excellent option as they provide high quality lighting and are very energy efficient. Halogen lights are another popular option due to their ability to provide warm and inviting lighting.

In summary, we consider that lighting is a key element in interior design since it can improve the functionality and aesthetics of a space. It is important to carefully consider the choice of type and placement of lighting to obtain the best results.

If you find it difficult to work with lighting in your project, our advice is that you go to a professional.
